Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are one of the most valuable diagnostic tools a pediatric dentist has. They let us follow your child's dental development over time and show us what an eye exam alone never could.

As with everything in our practice, your child's welfare and a positive experience come first, in an office that runs green and completely paperless.

What x-rays let us see

A dental x-ray builds a complete picture of your child's mouth, above and below the gum line. Dr. Anu uses these images to:

FOLLOW ERUPTION

Watch how adult teeth are moving in as they develop, and check that everything is arriving on schedule and in the right place.

SPOT IRREGULARITIES

Identify developmental irregularities and growth concerns in the teeth and jaw while they are still small and simpler to plan around.

FIND HIDDEN TROUBLE

Detect cavities between teeth, bone conditions and injuries from dental trauma that are not visible during a regular visual examination.

ACT SOONER

Catching an issue early opens the door to faster action, whether that means prevention, monitoring or gentle treatment.

X-ray safety

Radiographs play an important diagnostic role in pediatric dentistry. They support the early detection of cavities, show how far decay has progressed, and let us watch for abnormal development in the teeth and jaw.

Your child's safety is our first concern, which is why we use digital equipment rather than traditional film machines.

About 70 percent less radiation: the digital x-ray equipment we use delivers approximately 70 percent less radiation than traditional film-based machines, while giving us clearer images we can review with you on screen right away.

Dr. Anu Korada

Dr. Anu trained in the UK and was drawn to pediatric dentistry early on by the fun, innocence and honesty of children. A mother of two, she moved to Canada from London with her family and brings more than 15 years of experience in pediatric and special care dentistry across both countries. She teaches pediatric dentistry at UBC and BC Children's Hospital.

She believes good oral hygiene is the gateway to good overall general health, and that positive experiences and good coping strategies learned in childhood carry into adult dental life.
